Amanda Barrie (1936 - )

Born Shirley Anne Broadbent, Amanda Barrie has been an actress for many years. She has starred in movies, Children's television, and has performed at song and dance clubs and in the theatre. She usually puts in a good performance.

She played Alma Sedgwick in Coronation Street, which she first joined in 1981, becoming a regular in 1989, until they killed of her character with the illness cervical cancer in 2001, and has danced with her co-stars William Roach and Ken Kennedy for an awards ceremony. Other regulars she performed with on the show include Sue Nichols and Helen Wirth

She later played "Bev" in "Bad Girls".
