Movies; Sister Kenny (1946)

This film stars Rosalind Russell as the Australian army nurse Sister Elizabeth Kenny, who managed to develop an effective treatment for polio, who's only treatment prior to this was total immobilisation. This film tells the life story of this nurse, who fought for over 35 years against the orthodox medical establishment to get the treatment recognised, and who finally won in the usual way, as new experts learned her treatment, and her terminology like Spasm and to Reeducate limbs, and the old experts died off.

It covers the period up till a few years after the founding of the Elizabeth Kenny Institute

Rosalind Russell plays this role excellently, as do the supporting cast.

Directed by Dudley Nichols.
