As far as I know both the wiglaf and hrothgar beowulf clusters were developed using the tools which were to become the extreme Linux cd.
Xyroth is currently trying to build a Beowulf cluster using the extreme linux cd, multiple 486 pc's, and the book how to build a Beowulf.
This is now known as beowulf linux.
