Having 25 members in 2004 the European Union took in 2 new members on January 1st, Romania and Bulgaria, making 27 members in all with a combined population of 480 million people.

The ongoing farce about the Boston bypass was raised by local uk MP in a Parliamentary debate.

There were also quite a few books and movies created this year.
