A planet hunter called Didier Queloz in provance looked at 51 pegasi, or 51 peg for short in 1995 and found the first extra solar planet.

Nasa's second generation beowulf cluster called Hrothgar was got running this year.

A Japanese cult attacks their underground with the nerve gas Sarin.

Having 12 members in 1986, the European Union gets 3 new members, Austria, Sweden and Finland, taking the total up to 15. A further expansion occured in 2004.

There were also some books and movies created this year.
